Getting fan blade off

So I'm trying to replace my water pump, and am stuck early on. I've got a 99, so 4 nuts need to come off to get the fan off the water pump pulley. I'm supposed to loosen them before removing the belt. I got 3 loose, but the whole thing rotates when I try to do the last one. Can I brace one of the other pulleys, or something?

Done. Able to brace with another wrench on an already loose one. It's going to be a long day. Please keep watching this thread for my next plea for help.

Thread Sealant

The youtube video says to put it on the threads of the water pump inlet is it really necessary? $17 at NAPA or a long drive into town. Thanks!

It's highly likely that it will leak if you don't use sealant or tape. And the only way to fix it is to remove the pump.

Worth the $17. Get the liquid Teflon, always good to have around.

Thanks, I'll stop being so cheap. Hopefully last question: I have two studs stuck in the old water pump. Is there a trick to removing them?

Double nuts. Put two nuts on the stud. Tighten one against the other. Turn the bottom nut with wrench to remove stud..

Putting fan blade back on

I'm getting there. Having the opposite problem. I can't get the 4 fan nuts tight without spinning everything. Tips?

Ive used a screwdriver to wedge between the nut and shaft.
