Gift lift help???

My wife (helped by bro-inlaw) got me the RC 2.5 spring/shock lift. I have been looking at lifts and doing some reading & decided to save and spend a little more $ but this was sitting waiting for me when I got home form work. I know they picked it because it's the 1st thing that pops up in google & the price. A return is not in the question so what I'm looking for is help / suggestions on additions to kit. I want 32 mtr's I plain on 20% light off-roading 80% life.

I'm ok with the hight just looking for help on how to get the most out of it.

Any suggestions????

98 se 4cyl 5 Speed 4.10 gears

Maybe a 1" body lift on top of the 2.5 in the kit. Should clear 32's.

better shocks and youll be good. maybe bilsteins 5100 or ranchos 9000 i hear are good. body lift would be a great addition as well maybe with a motor mount lift. double check the bumpstops too cause i bent the crud out of my fenders with the same lift and 32's. had to remove the plastic that was conformed to the bent metal to bend said metal back. was a bit of a chore

I would install it, and if you are satisfied with the way it rides, fine, if you are not, upgrade the shocks. Adding a 1" or 1.25" body lift would work to clear the tires you have planned....Happy wife, happy life....!

I've got that same set up. You'll need to address the front track bar for sure, I went with a Metalcloak adjustable threaded all the way in. Definitely consider setting those shocks to the side and looking at something different. Can't recommend anything as I haven't relpaced mine yet. I had vibes after install, I wound up doing Browndog motor mount lift, and a slight TC drop. I may do a body lift at some point, but my 31's clear just fine so I'll save for shocks first. Truth be told, I really regret not waiting and saving a bit for a better set up. It's not my dd, so I'll deal for now. Good luck!

I would bet that there are bump stop extensions that come with the lift (if not, there should be), although the suspension should be cycled anyway to make sure of the clearances. I'm guessing that the reason that thetoadLJ bent his fenders was trying to run 32's with that lift and no body lift.

You won't know whether you need a mml until you try it. 2.5" is kind of borderline. You may have some vibes and if you do, a couple of washers between the transfer case skid and frame or a motor mount lift could take care of it.

Bumpstops don't come with the RC 2.5, or didnt when I had it. There are "bumpstops" on the shock, that are supposed to act like real bumpstops. But that won't stop it from bottoming out and ruining the shock and/or ripping mounts off.

That's amazing that they wouldn't include enough to protect the shocks. Putting bumps on the weakest part of the suspension (the shocks) doesn't do any good.

I never have any issues with my RC lift i had, i had the newer n2.0 series i think it was. To be honest it was the smoothest riding jeep i had been in in my life. Now i am not saying its top notch, i am saying i have no issues with RC myself.

Need some help...

Installed lift (just springs & shocks) and on the test drive I'm getting a shake/wobble and even a clunk coming out of 1st in the front end.

Any ideas where I should start???

The only thing I noticed that look out of place was 3 of the 4 caps on my front ujoint look as if they have some grease starting to leak / seep. Think that could be it?

Some jeeps can get vibes , my lil blue jeep with 33's and 2.5 inch budget boosts never had any vibes. I know for a 4 inch lift you drop the TC down 2 inches, therefore i'd drop it a inch if you got a 2 inch lift and having bad vibes. However a lot of people will say get a SYE, however it is not necessary. out of all the TJ's my friends own, we all have TC drops. mainly due to the fact it costs less then 5 $ to make

I lowered it a little I only had 3/8" in washers & it feels like the vibe is a little less! I'm going to grab everything I need from work 2maro. I think I'm on the right track thanks and I'll repost after install.

BL, MML & & 3/4" front spring spacers to level out front end are on the way. So My ? is should I install front bump stops extensions? I did on the back when I did the shock and springs.

I ended up with both n2 & 2.2 RC'S shocks because if sellers mess up. The 2.2's suck one blew in a week. gunna install the n2's when the other stuff is all in. If those suck then Ill spend some cash on some real shocks. Thanks for the tip

Check the CV (double cardan) joint at the t-case on your front shaft. With only 2.5" lift, you shouldn't be needing a t-case drop.
