^This is a little vague but...
As was mentioned earlier, it only takes a couple of screws to pull the instrument cluster. I would pull it and reset. Also, fuse box in the glove box should be checked.
If it was all the sudden it sounds fuse related.

This is a common issues with early TJs, it happened to my 97. Odds of a complete cure are good if you very carefully tweak (a teeny-tiny bend) each of the male pins in the connectors behind the instrument cluster. That will make the electrical connections fit together tighter and be more reliable. Doing this completely cured the same issue for me.

Here's some good related information...

I started encountering an intermittent loss of power to my instrument cluster a few weeks back while I was driving in heavy rain. I thought it was moisture ingress into something but it fixed itself. Last week I was driving through deep water and got quite a bit through the heater air intake and into the passenger foot well. Next day the instrument cluster fault came back intermittently again but today it just stopped altogether. I'm really happy to say that the remedy mentioned here (pulling the cluster out and adjusting the pins) worked 100%. As it turns out, the whole moisture thing was just a coincidence. I love these forums, I've made many small repairs and improvements myself that would have otherwise cost me money.
