Ok, got alot of good advice on the dead blower issue in my 99. Changed the control switch, the blower resistor, and still only have high speed only.:banghead: Once that was working, also get little air out the windshield vent in defrost, all at the windows? Is that normal? I'm really hoping to not have to take this into a shop, $$$!
If I had to guess I would say it is still a resistor that is not working properly. You get high speed because it is receiving only the 12 volts. The lower speeds come from getting lower voltage when the switch is moved to the lower speed. Also, it sounds like a vacuum leak which is causing the air to come out of the defrost vents only. Air line leaks are frustrating and can do all kinds of strange things.
Did you remove and replace the melted connector and the control box or did you reuse the control box? Look really close..any melting...replace the box.
As for only out of defrost...= vaccume leak. Defrost is the default setting, if any vaccume leak is present the blower defaults to the defroster.
Check the lines going to the back of the control box, then check the vaccume line on the intake manifold.
^^^Replaced the switch and removed connector with new spades. And replaced resistor. I'll ck vacuum lines next. It does switch from vent to floor, and half n half. It's just when I go defrost only, most comes out the window vents and nearly nothing at the windshield.
There is a hose that goes to the defrost vent, make sure it didn't get pulled off when you were messing around in there. Open the glove box...should be able to see it behind there.
