hard top removial

Any one have any hints tricks to make it easy? Going to be getting a factory soft top at a good price and know i'm going to want to play with it.
is it a 1, 2 person job or does it take 3 men and a dog?
saw a top lift for removal-anyone hook something to rafters in the garage(ie rachet straps, rope/pully etc)

Also what are the factory tops made out of?

thanks

That why they make those nifty hard top hoists. Most people dont have 5 men and a dog handy. Good luck.

Two people can do it. The hoist-a-top works OK if you don't have any help. The tops are made of fiberglass.

Basically it's not hard, just open the rear gate. Undo the wire harness off to the left. Unlatch the windshield hinges, and then remove the six screws in the back seat, just don't loose the wing nuts. Then push up to break the seal right above the door. Then one person on either side and walk towards the back to remove it. It's not that heavy.

Whenever I get my dang garage I'm going to build a pully system that uses my winch to hoist the top up. I haven't got all the logistics figured but I'm going to use.

A set of ratchet straps to latch on the top
Some heavy duty nylon cord
At least two pullys
And some billy bob engineering

I got a winch, might as well get my monies worth!
