Hard Top Windows

Hi everyone, I am new here, but not new to Jeeps (I posted an introduction in that section) I recently picked up an 05 Unlimited for my son, a few days later I found a hard top on craigslist. I would like to paint the hard top. does anyone have any experience removing the side windows from one of these? It looks like they are held in with urethane, my concern is damaging the top while cutting the urethane, any input is appreciated.

thank you, Doug

Just tape off the windows. A lot of us have painted a hard top.

I agree, tape off the windows and either paint the top or have it rhino lined. Body shops don't usually take out your windows if you have a top painted. Rhino lining makes it a little heavier, but, you only have to do it once and it will never get scratched up.

Thanks,
Chuck

You would probably never get them sealed properly if you were to remove them. Can I ask what you paid for it? Not being nosey but I have an unlimited hardtop from my 2006 I'm considering selling and I'm trying to come up with an asking price.

I think if Chrysler can get them to seal, I should be able to. If they are broken, they need to be able to be replaced, just thought someone would have had to deal with it at some time. I paid $400.00 for the top, plus he threw in a hoist system as well. I believe I got a deal, as I think they usually go for closer to $1000.00
