headers

I have a 05 Rubicon wrangler and I have the two pre cats. I'm thinking of upgrading the headers. I would like to get rid of the pre cats and just use the back cat. Any ideas on a header that will be great for a upgrade and to give me better performance was thinking of getting the afe twisted steel header 4 wheel parts number afe48-46202 does anyone have this header or have used this header

stick with OEM, those pre cats are what do most of the work and without them you will have no way to tell your pcm what the air to fuel ratio should be. there hasnt been a single aftermarket header that has been a significant upgrade over stock and most fail prematurely

X2, not to mention you'll have a constant Check Engine light and diagnostic trouble codes if you got rid of the pre-cats.

What is happening with your current factory headers? Are in good working condition? Replacing the factory headers with aftermarket headers will not help with performance.

the 05 exhaust manifolds are a two-piece cast design. i highly doubt they are cracked. you likely just have an exhaust leak at the flange to the main cats.

get a Walker Exhaust direct replacement downpipe w/ all three cats, new bolts, and simply torque them to spec.
