headlight replacement

I bought a 2006 Wrangler about a year ago. The headlights are useless with the low beams. Has anyone replaced the headlights or bulbs? I was originally looking at adding a pair of HELLA 500's or KC Daylighter Driving lights. However, I see that KC makes replacement headlights for the TJ's. Anyone have any experience with these or other possibly cheaper options? It would be great to be able to replace these headlights and then add a pair of KC Fog lights to the bumper.

I have older Delta's that came with 55W bulbs. Big improvement. But I upgraded to 100W and then to 130W bulbs. Word to the wise, if you go over 55W use relays and a separate harness or you may burn up your harness and headlight switch.

I installed the Delta DOT housing with 55w HID and I got a lot of glare. I was not happy with it so I sent it back for Hella e-code housing. I will get them sometime next week. I heard it has a better cutoff and minimal glare. I also modded my Hella 500 with 55w HID. I like it a lot. Good luck on yours.

Hella Vision Plus . I installed them last December and love them . JP magazine seemed to think they were very good also which was what I based my decision to buy them on at the time and I have to agree with them .

I went with the Sylvania silver stars in the Sealed beam. They are alot better then stock halogens and make a big difference. On the Interstate if i want more light i just put on my foglights. Besides the Silver stars are alot cheaper then switching over to the others, and they are found at most parts stores, truckstops, and so on.

I like my Autopal h4 conversions with extravision bulbs. Ecode has a nice sharp cutoff and waaay brighter than stock.

Ditto on the Silver Stars...

I also went with the H3 Silver Star upgrade on the fog lamps which are 100w ...

I can see clearly now...

I tried the Silver Stars also and they did 100 times better then stock for the three weeks before they blew out, figured I got a bad one, it happens, so I replaced it and it worked good for the two weeks before it blew out again. So then I bought the Rampage H4 at Quadratec they work 10 times better then the Silver stars and I've never had a problem with them.

Did you upgrade the harness when you switched over to the rampage lights? I'm looking to use the same light rampage light (based on your experience) but it seems like some recommend changing out the harness as well. I'm considering this harness from eautoworks.com. http://www.eautoworks.com/product-eA...com-189849.htm
Anyone have any thoughts?

The one I linked to should work fine? Is it pretty much plug and play?

It looks like it has everything you would need. They usually have good instructions.

I did it on a budget(H4 conversion). You can find the headlight shells on eBay fairly cheap, around $50.00,then put whatever H4 bulbs you like in them.I am currently running Hellas, and bought them from Summit Racing for about $30.00.Less than $100.00,about an hour to do the swap(EASY),and the difference is beyond belief! There are much nicer and more expensive ways to go,but I did mine for cheap, because the wife doesn't like me spending ALL my money on my Jeep!

I just ordered a set of these. I'll hopefully get them in time to put them in next weekend. I'll post up some before & after pics when I get it done.

Be warned the KC H3 headlight replacements suck! I've had mine since July and with the stock bulbs they were barely better than the factory headlights. So I replaced them with some 100w bulbs off ebay and a wiring harness. While replacing the bulbs I notice the threads were pulling out of the housing because they are made of plastic with a spring loaded metal screw holding the bulb in. Three weeks later one of the bulbs blew and you guessed it-when I replaced the bulb the threads completely pulled out. The Hilite (pun intended) is their warranty department was very easy to work with and I had a new housing in less than a week.

Anyway that's my $0.02.
