heater control question

What would cause the heater control knob to malfunction? The knob can be put to any setting, but only the floor heat setting comes out. If I put it in any other setting (defrost, upper heat, etc.) only the floor heat comes out. I pulled the knob off and there is nothing wrong with it. Any ideas?

If its anything like other vehicles ive dealt with, the knob pulls or retracts cables to alter the setting of the vent. Maybe they have come unattached. I got no idea how a Jeeps work though so this may not be useful info at all sorry

i just had a similar problem not too long ago... I had a vaccum line that came disconnected in my engine compartment. it was small and attached to the engine towards the back of the valve cover on the drivers side. it ran to the firewall on the passengers side, it think it t'd off somewhere, too. I hooked it back up and WAMMO... heat control knob functioned perfectly. I'd look there first, before tearing apart your dash
