heater sucks fix after fan / heater core replacement.

Okay I am sure this is probably on here somewhere but... here is my version. I did a heater core on my 99 tj and after getting it back together my heater sucked, my fan was making an odd noise, and it was running hard but not blowing. So i took the fan back out, checked to make sure I didnít mess it up I ran the squirrel cage with my air blower and all was fine. I checked and rechecked vacuum lines and ect... You can actually plug the fan plug in backwards causing your squirrel cage to run backwards and not pushing any air. I feel like an idiot, but I will at least be a warm idiot.. Lesson learned.

You replaced your heater core yourself? How long did it take you to take apart your dash and how did you work around removing the refrigerant in your AC system?

Congrats on the fix-I didn't realize u could reverse the plug on those-will have to remember that when wrenching on the Jeep-as if that is possible to do that on one plug, maybe others also?

The heater core took about 6 hours and its a pain... But the idiot that had my jeep was well an idiot. They had bare wires run for a stereo, alarm and ect.. dash was butchered for speakers. It took me an extra 2 hours to fix all the stuff correctly. I was shocked any of it worked. One spot had at least 6 feet of speaker wore just shoved up in it. All said and done I had removed the front seats and console to re-wire it all.

I am not a professional mechanic but I am a descent shade tree guy. as for draining Freon I just took it to a local place and had them drain it.. wink wink

When it was backwards it would still blow a little air but it was cold. It was sucking in from the inside and blowing the hot air to the outside.

Yeah, I called my buddy that's a jeep master tech and he told me that he had heard about it... He said that he thought you shouldnt be able to doo it.. But i did, 3 times. I had taken my fan back out and looked to make sure I didnt mess something up. I said "will it run backwards?" and he said yes. I have never felt so dumb yet relieved.
