Height of my tires?

When I purchased my jeep a week and a half ago, It came with brand new tires. (they had 248 or 268 miles on them) The side wall reads 225/70/15. I measured the height of them=26 1/2 inches. If and when I put on 30x9.5-15's, What kind of additional height might I expect? Thanks.

IMO I would go with a 31" tire maybe like a BFG All terrian or something..But if your not lifting it 31's is your max and they look very nice with it..I was runing 31's stock b4 I lifted my jeep and I loved it

If I were in your shoes...I'd run the tires on it till they needed replaced and then as Jrzymilitia said...go with some 31's.

Well 30's are a bit larger than the 225's. maybe pick up an 1.5" max. Here is a shot of the 97 my wife had with no lift and 30's on it.

my calc says those tires are 27.4" but either way... you only get 1/2 inch of vehicle ground clearance for every inch in tire you increase.

or when you say additional height were you talking about the actual tire size? well that depends on the tire and tire manufacturer. very rarely does a tire's listed size actually measure up to be the posted size.

if youre thinking of upgrading to a larger tire size, do a little research on the company's website and see what size they truly measure to.

if i were you, id consider getting some 31x10.5 's and the BFG All Terrains

Seems as the consesus say's 31's. I will be doing tight turns= boat trailer backing up and down the ramp. T he origianal tire size was the 30x9.5, that's why I mentioned it. I will have to do my home work. As of the height, mine are 26 1/2" from ground to top of tire. I guess you have to take into account the weight of the jeep, and the air pressure used in the tire. There is some deflection on the bottom where it meets the road. Thanks guys.!

Good luck towing a boat with a Wrangler. Its only rated at 2000lbs with a I6, keep in mind thats including all gear, gas, toys, and passengers. I've towed a single jet ski with a wrangler and I would never do it again. That short wheel base has a purpose, and thats not towing. Do what I did, buy a '08 Hemi 1500, that will tow your boat all day long. Oh yea, go with the 31's.

Goodyear Tires | SUV and Truck Tires | Wrangler DuraTrac

they are fairly cheap. i pick up a set of 4 at 570 installed. and they are 31X10.50.

right now i have a set of 3 BFG knock off's, and one bfg and they are 30X9.50

The I-6 has plenty of power for pulling my boat. I had a smaller motor in my dakota that pulled my boat with the bumber hitch! As for the wheel base, i m not going 60 mph. The most I go is 45-50 max. All side roads to the ramp.

its not a matter of power. he is talking about the stability of the jeep when towing something. also stopping could be a big issue.

I'll find out this week. I'll let ya know. I already pulled the boat with the wifes VW Tiguan. It's the same size as the jeep, maybe a couple inches longer in wheel base. But not much. I would use that but its front wheel drive. That would do me no good on the boat ramp.
