Okay, so I was trying to disconnect my downpipe from the header so I could get my stupid oil pan off and I broke one of the bolts. It looks like just a stud that is threaded into the header pipe and then has a nut on the other end to connect the downpipe.
Big question...does anyone know for sure if it's just threaded in or is it welded to the lower end of the header???? I've been trying to grab it with a vise grip and loosen it. I can't get the vise grip tight enough to hold. It slips before anything moves. There's so much rust on the stud/bolt/or whatever it is that I can't see if maybe it's welded in there and I'm fighting a losing battle.
Any hints, secrets to getting it loose, etc would be greatly appreciated. Didn't think putting an oil pump in would be such a hassle. 99% of my time has been spent fighting with the exhaust.
