I'm not to sure how to best explain it but I have an 05 tj that has had this problem since I've owned her, replaced a lot of parts ( lower control arms, re adj trackbar, quick disco, etc) but have made it ride "better" I guess. I've had a clunking problem in the front suspension (normally front driver side wheel area) when accelerating after shifting, shifting into second at low rpms, backing out of the drive the pushing the clutch in. I could really figure out what was causing that noise until I was pulling into my storage unit and while I was reversing I pumped the brakes with a few quick taps every time I hit it at a rolling speed the front left tire would clunk and violently shake?

Any though on why this would happen? I have a video of me rocking the tire back and forth and with each quick heave it would make a pop sound.

I tried jacking it up and shaking it top to bottom but I didn't get any play or even a pop/clunk sound.

If I go over a speed bump in a parking lot, at slow speeds I hear loud clunk soon as my front right tire comes down if that helps at all :/

I might have 2 problems instead of one, I was thinking...if mine happens on bumps with the clutch pressed and no power to her. Then the clunk clunk clunk when i press the clutch and release the gas during low speed shifts (2nd, 3rd gear, I don't use first) is possibly a completely different issue. I'm thinking the speed bump problem is due to the left lower control arm I put in. Just looked at it and the bolt on the axle side isn't all the way in, its torque to spec but the washer is resting on the horseshoe, mix that with elongated horizontal holes and I think I found that problem.

Doesn't explain tapping the brake and the front wheel shaking like a that though.

I had the same trouble and found one side of my track bar was loose, I tightened it and trouble went away...

I just installed those last week. I wasn't too happy with the amount of space I had with the washers that were supplied with my CAs. Plus those washers were pretty thin. These fit perfect and I even got a weird surprise with my order; a tube of strawberry lip smackers that my five year old daughter likes.
