Help! Spider gears poping dana 44 rear options locker?

Hey Guys-

My rearend just started poping when I accelerate and turn. I pulled rear ds to get home. I have 2002 sport 35s with 410 gears Trac-loc 44. I want to lock it. What should I expect to buy besides the locker kit. Do any kits come with spider gears or eliminate the trac-loc? I would not mind open diff w/locker. I know there is no cheap way to do it right. What is my best cost efficient reliable options? Thanks.

Stuart

What makes you think it's not the pinion bearings?

I brought it to a friend of mines shop today when it was happening. Under a load at low speeds while turning it would pop loud. He said it sounded like the spider gears to him. With me running 35s i was just leaning in that direction without looking yet. I'm not sure yet since we have not pulled the cover. Does it sound like it could be pinion bearings? thanks

Check the backlash before you tear it apart. Mine did that at .012
Maybe do a pattern check too.
