Help with door surrounds and soft top

I found out today after buying some door surrounds why my jeep didn't have them to begin with. Apparently I have a Supertop style top on my jeep and it won't allow the surrounds to be installed with the top hardware in place. My question is has anybody successfully modified the door surrounds so they will fit with this style top? Any advice greatly appreciated.

I'm guessing you probably have the old style Supertop. My recommendation is to get rid of that junk top and get a top that utilizes the factory door surrounds. I used to have have the old style Supertop, it was just a flat out horrible design.

Why not go to Bestop and get the correct surrounds?

What are you trying to use the stock door surrounds for?

I have full doors and I like the look that the surrounds offfer by filling in the gap between the door and the roll bar when the top is down.
