Help with interior lights

Just purchase a 2003 Sahara. The interior lights do not come on when you open the door. However, they do work when you turn them on using the switch on the turn signal lever. Anybody have any suggestions as to why the lights are not coming on when the door is opened?

Good point, should be a simple check. I can probably take the 2 wires going into the door switch and bridge across them. If the light comes on then I guess I know the switch is the problem.

try checking to see if the fuse has been pulled for the door trigger. thats how you turn them off when the doors come off. someone probly pulled it when top was down and doors off. tells you how in the books

It's fuse #4. It's probably missing.

X2. Fuse #4 is what you remove when you want to drive without the doors on so the lights won't stay on. The previous owner just didn't replace the fuse, my TJ is the same way since I never bothered to put that fuse back in.

Thanks for the help. The #4 fuse was missing. I installed a fuse and now have dome lights, key in ignition warning, and headlights left on warning.
