Help with sound.

This has been happening for the last month. The jeep will only do it when the transmission is on drive and there is no movement on the tires or anything. Brakes applied it makes the sound. It's riding normal.

Specs on the jeep. 05 LJ 56k auto I6.

When a weld on my muffler broke, that is what mine sounded like. But I would check your transmission mount. Basically crawl under and see what is loose and rattling.

The muffler Points me in the right place. I had a friend ride on the jeep say that it sounds like I have a leak on the muffler. The day i first heard the sound everything looked normal underneath and i took it to ORW to have checked and this day it didn't do it.

Crawl under with some gloves and grab the exhaust and try to move it in all directions and listen for the noise. A common area for a weld to break between the cat and the muffler. (The muffler will then bang against the U-Clamp.)

Also check the clearance between the cat and the skid plate...that is another potential rattle point.

Make sure the exhaust has cooled first, lol.

Funny story about that. The first the sound was happening. I had stopped to drop my dog off at the sitter. And I just went underneath the jeep in my nice navy service uniform and just grabbed part off it. All you heard was the sizzling sound of my fingers and my reaction to the burn like 5 seconds later. Fuck that hurt.
