High Oil Pressure

Alright so right now my oil pressure is pinned at 80. But then sometimes it will be at 45 and go up and down from 45 to 60. It keeps alternating betweeb being pinned and 45-60. My oil pan is a little bit dented. Could this be the problem? Maybe I hit my sending unit?

I doubt you hit the sending unit. It's off the block. I'd start by changing that out first since its a fairly inexpensive part and easy to change. If that doesn't fix the issue then maybe it's possible the oil pump was damaged with the dented oil pan?

What if it read 80 with the ignition on but engine off?

Does Jeep use stepper motors on their gauges - I had a trailblazer that had them and all the gauges were wrong?

I just replaced my sender for the exact same reason, but mine read 20ish with the key on engine off.

Mine was the sending unit, just replaced it. Outta nowhere started reading 80 constantly, and would drop to normal every once and a while. Very easy replacement.

Seems like the first thing to do. Its by the distributor cap right? I have a 99 2.5L

hey where is it on a 2002 I6 tj all of a suddon my oil pressure is nearing 80 lbs and my radiator is boiling and just cracked as I turned 128,000

Same area, passenger side near the oil filter
