With the hood designed the way it is what is available to keep it locked? I have also read that the doors can be stolen too when I have the hard top off is there any prevention for this too? Have I read about this correctly, the doors are safe with the top on, but are at risk with the top off? Thanks again, Scooby
I think the doors can be removed with the top on. I don't see how the top has anything to do with removal of them since you open them and lift up (the nuts on my doors are long gone) but I could be wrong.
Collins offers a hood lock that should address what you are concerned about with the hood. Many companies offer a nut that fits on the door hinge bolt that requires a special tool to remove. The doors, as far as I can tell have nothing to do with the top.

Depends on if the doors were locked. But if you have soft doors a pocket knife makes short work of them. As for the hood i have seen 2 systems that work pretty well. One is a keyed system that works on your safety latch. Have to reach through the grill to unlock it. The other is what i have, 2 keyed latches that replace the stock ones on the hood. Although both have their ups and downs. When i go over the hood in mud i have to spray the locks out with WD-40 before i can open it lol. The anti-theft door nuts are a good idea. Other then the fact the thief stealing yours prolly knows Jeeps, and has that tool in his pocket too.....
Also, besides all of this stuff for the hood, there ARE locks that secure the doors at the hinges. I have seen them in Quadratec a few times. I don't receive Quad anymore, so I couldn't tell you what page they are on. Seen 'em on Ebay too.
i was thinking the locks behind the grill would be exposed a lot more to the elements since they are right there in front of the vehicle. the hood locks at least have the actual locks facing toward the back of the vehicle. but i agree, if someone wants to gets into your vehicle they are.
I was thinking of installing an alarm that senses shocks and also voltage change. Under the hood i have a light so this can be connected to the alarm telling the hood is open and also the same with the doors.. when you open a door the lights inside turn on and activating the alarm.
Hey the best thing i have ever personally had experiance with for theft deterant was a cut-off switch. I bumped the one in my old jeep without knowing what it was. Needless to say it took me a day and a half to figure out why i couldent get the thing running haha wont help with doors but it will keep your jeep in the parking lot
