Hood hold downs

So, on Friday I ordered the Drake Off-road hood hold downs from Quardatec. Good thing I did, because this afternoon I went over a bump and the hold down on the driver side broke I should have my new hold downs on Monday (here's hoping at least) but the question is will the hood be OK? I don't plan on driving her fast but the roads I travel do hit 45. I have a bungee cord holding that side for some extra support.

As long as the air cant get under it I think it would be fine.

The bungees add some support, but more than enough air can still get under there. Here's a couple of pics:

And here's the bungees

just an observation, but i think i'd see if i could do something different with the green one-looks like it's holding your hood open a little. Maybe run the thin one it's attached to through the 1st grill opening. You want it to sit as normal(closed/flat) as possible. on the bright side, you should still have your safty latch and that should stop it from opening all the way-but i don't think I'd personally feel like testing it out.
Good luck and hope the new ones arrive on time.

Thanks for the advice robbie. I took a second look at it and remembered I had ratcheting tie-downs in the back of the jeep. Much more secure. The hood will bend before it ever flies open now.

I like those. I order these on Friday: Drake Off Road JP190021K - Drake Off Road™ Hood Hold Downs for 97-06 Jeep® Wrangler TJ & Unlimited - Quadratec

Those hood pins would add to the look quite nicely.

until the new hold downs come in, why not just cut all the rubber off the old hold down and tie the remaining pins together with a few black zip ties. Disregard if you've always wanted the ratchet strap look. Just my 2 cents.

Drake makes quality stuff. Here's the link to where I ordered my hood pins if you're interested. You probably wouldn't need hood pins with those Drake latches, but if it's the look you want, here's the link......

toth: good suggestion, I had not thought of that, but I also don't have zip ties in my apt. I really do need to pick up some though, never know when they come in handy

cave: sweetness. thanks for the link.

And just for an update, checked UPS and my news ones are out for delivery. Once I get them installed I'll put up some pics (sans the ratchet tie down).

Well mrcarcrazy I think I will be missing that craze, but I can always go back to it, haha.

So here's the pics of the stuff. This was quite possibly the easiest install I have done on my Jeep by myself. That could be because I had to get a new hood when I hit that deer back in March and the hardware wasn't rusted on there for 6 years. So anyway, here's the pics:

The passenger side

The driver side

And a nice head on shot

Don't mind the shackle, he didn't really know what he was doing. But seriously, these things are awesome!!

You've got some hood fitment issues. It could be angle of the shot, but it really looks like your hood doesn't fit quite right. Your hood latches look sweet though!!

You are correct. I think the shop that did the repairs after the accident put on an earlier year used hood. I need to mess with and see if there is anything I can do, but the new hardware is holding it down very tight.

Nice lookin' latches. But for the price they should be gold plated.
