horizontal clearance issue on rear axle...tires/springs

Hi Everyone,
I took ny jeep in for an oil change recently (I used to do my own but I don't have a garage any longer) the mechanic noticed that when the jeep is on the hoist that the rear left tire is rubbing the springs and on the other side theres abiut 1.5" of clearance...I suspect this is abnormal but want ro be certain, and if it is odd how to start identifying the issue.
Thanks

Is this a lifted Jeep? Sounds like you need an adjustable track bar.

your wheels inherently have backspacing. you need to figure that out to make sure the wheels are appropriate for the tires.

but assuming that's not the issue, it sounds like something is bent/broken/missing. either the rear track bar itself is broken (or missing), or the bracket has ripped off the axle. if the bracket has ripped off the axle, it usually takes the upper control arm mount with it. if the rear track bar has been removed, then some moron has ruined your tires due to ignorance of basic geometry.

crawl under there, take some pictures and post them up, so we can help. or just crawl under there and figure out what the problem is yourself and fix it.

bottom line is it should be a symmetrical spacing correct?
