How do you know if transmission mount is bad?

It sounds like my ujoints are bad but they seem tight. I can grab the rear driveshaft and move the whole transmission. Is this normal. I hear a popping noise when I leave out of 1st gear and when I drive thru holes.Any ideas?

No thats not normal, get a trouble light under there and a pry bar, see where it's broken, easy fix pretty much. Look to make sure all the bolts are in there too, I know people who have lost them or had them break.

Is it located at the rear of the trans. And I assume the skip plate needs to be removed. I really have not spent too much time on it , But I will crawl under it tomorrow.
