How long should a rear main seal last (leak free)?

Hi! I've got a 2003 Wrangler with 4.0L and automatic transmission. I noticed I had an oil leak in the rear main seal area, so I had a local shop inspect it in January of this year. I would have called it a slow leak, where oil seeped out and I would get a couple of drips on the floor each night.

Anyways the shop found that it was in fact the rear main seal leaking, and they replaced it. Fast forward to today (3 months and less than 1,500 miles later) and the same slow leak is back. I'm having the shop look at my Jeep tomorrow to confirm that it is the rear main seal leaking again. If so, here's what I'm thinking:

1. Their repair in January should have lasted longer than 3 months and 1,500 miles or it wasn't really a repair, just a temporary fix. If they can replace the seal again (at no charge to me) with some confidence that it will last a helluva lot longer (tbd) then that's fine with me.
2. If they cannot replace it with any certainty that the repair won't last any longer (tbd), I'm going somewhere else and I want my money back for the work they did in January since they never told me at that time that it was just a temporary fix.

I'm going to give the shop a chance to do the right thing here, but I guess I wanted to vent and also ask this question:

How long should a rear main seal last before it starts leaking? I would like to think 50,000+ miles but have no idea what is reasonable. To me 3 months and 1,500 miles is ridiculously short, what do you think? I did some forum searching but didn't find a clear answer. Unfortunately I found lots of anecdotal advice where it's common for the rear main seal to start leaking again shortly after it's replaced.

I replaced mine last June and it is seeping now. about 10,000 miles. My front seal is also seeping. I will wait and do mine when / if it leaks more or when I do a clutch (whichever comes 1st)
