Dude I sell parts for a living, the tranny pan is $19.89 and that's from the dealer and the skide plate is about $120.00 from the dealer too.... You need to tell the you want to see the prices of the parts and where the hell are they coming from the (moon) with that kinda price they would have to have been shipped around the world...

The most this job should cost you including labor is about $250-$300

Unless they are charging you labor for figuring it all out and that is on you for not finding a shop that gives free quotes???

Its auto only, and it may be certain years as well.

I would say that is a fair price if you had them check axles, alignment, and everything else, as well as install new skids and looking at the trans.

Not all have a trans skid plate. It was optional.

This may be an opportunity to invest in a stouter skid...

I priced checked him and this is what I found. It seems like a fair price to me.
See for your self.
Skyjacker High Clearance Transfer Case Skid Plate for 97-02 Jeep« Wrangler TJ with Automatic Transmission - Quadratec
MOPAR Transmission Oil Pan 52852912AC
They also checked my whole Jeep underneath and took apart the transmission to look at the gears. Did I get ripped off?

No you didn't get ripped off, they checked everything out and did the repairs... chalk it up as a lesson learned and incentive to learn to do repairs yourself.

That skyjacker skid is a major upgrade compared to what they put on your Jeep, if they replaced the transmission skid you had, its an entirely different part and not at all like the skyjacker skid you used as a comparison.
