Can't help you with the parts, but for a thread bump:

How did you manage to break a 44?

You should be able to find one cheap from someone pulling their stock shafts to upgrade.

He has a Rubicon & a Dana 44 axle up front, isn't your LJ's front axle still a Dana 30? If so, the shafts aren't interchangeable.

This should do it, but count your splines anyway. There are a couple 27 spline shafts tagged as Rubicon parts that have me nervous. It should be 30 splines.

More Information for ALLOY USA 10133

Whoops nevermind, I just noticed his broken piece is the outer stub shaft which is the same part for the Dana 30/Rubicon Dana 44.

The outer stub shafts are 27 spline for both the D44 used in the Rubicon and standard D30 used on the standard TJ. Only the inner shafts are different with the Rubicon's inner shaft being 30 spline & the D30's inner shaft being 27 spline.

So for your front Dana 44, it uses the same outer stub shaft that the TJ's D30 does.

I didn't have any luck trying to find just the stub shaft, best bet would be a junk/salvage yard.

I've not heard of a broken shaft being welded. I'm no expert but, this sounds interesting.

I'd carry the welded axle shaft as a spare to get home on but I sure wouldn't wheel with it.
