my tj seems to have an issue starting, the battery drags when I first start it,then I need to be light on the gas pedal to keep the idle for a few seconds.then it will idle regular.but when I stop the process starts over, battery drag etc.
idle sensor maybe? need help please as I am driving to MO. on the 16th
please help
Typically when the Idle Sensor goes bad the idle just goes up and down or stays high. The drag you speak of sounds like a battery issue, maybe creating low voltage. I would stop by Autozone or OReilly's and have the charging system checked.
That could be a dirty IAC, which can be fixed by simply cleaning it with throttle body cleaner, but I'm leaning more torwards a low almost-dead battery. The TJ's alternator won't put out full power unless the battery is putting out full power which can cause the ignition system to be weak which can cause anything from a bad idle to an engine that won't even run. Sometimes a bad/dirty/corroded/loose battery connection can mimic a low or dead battery too.
