Ignition problems

How do I know if my coil packs are going bad? I have been experiencing a rough jerk as I drive down the road and not all the its real random. I also never get a check engine light when it happens just a loss of acceleration for a few seconds. Could a bad fuel pump or idle air control valve do the something? Help anybody thank you
