Question ignition question

my freind has an 02 jeep with the 4.0, were gonna change the motor this week end. the problem is he got a motor from a 99 that has a distributer cap and plug wires on it his original has the coil packs on top. can we take the dc out and replace it with the coil packs and it still run right?

simple answer, no. its wired completely different. if you want to make that motor run in the 02 you will need the computer and wiring from 97-99 that that motor came out of.

I do believe it can be done. You will need to swap the distributor for the cam sensor and make hold down brackets for the coil rail because the mounting holes will not be there on the 99 engine. You also want to make sure the injectors on both engines are the same so they wiring will plug into them.If not you will have to either swap them or the easiest way is to swap the whole intake.
