Indicator lights

Trying to see if anyone can help trace down why the 4wd and parking brake indicators are not working on my 98 TJ. I have swapped the bulbs with known good ones and still nothing. I did check switch connections on both the transfer and ebrake assembly and bothe seem good and clean. The lights also do not come on when doing the self test?!?! Any help would be much appreciated

Not sure about the 98's but the circuitboard behind my gauges shorted out and now the back lights behind my gauges won't work but all the indicators work. I'd take your gauge cluster all the way apart and check the circuitboard. If you have one? Like I said im not sure about the older TJs. But it's a place to check. Hope you figure it out!

Thanks for the tip. I have looked at it and thought about your post. While your problem was a systemic problem linked to one circuit it makes sense. My problem however is isolated to two different indicators that operate independant of each other (at least I think). So I don't think that this would be my problem. If anybody else has any input it would be equally appreciated as that of Tjrubicon17.

70 plus views and only one reply?!?!?! I guess this is something that not many people worry about. However there must be some others that are curious?! As well as some that are experienced with the problem.

OK so I pulled the connector at the switch and jumped the wire and the 4WD indicator comes on. So I am trying to order the switch through rock auto and there seems to me a large number of different ones. Any advice on which one I need to buy? Also still have not figured out the parking brake indicator light issue. I pulled the console out and checked the connection and cleaned it up but still nothing. I know the bulb is good as I have changed it with a known good one. Any tips out there to help figure this out?

Well I finally figured out the parking light issue. The connector under the hood near the master cylinder was disconnected. Hooked it back up and works fine now. I will drive it a bit to see if there was a reason the PO disconnected it. Although it did have an engine swap done and very possibly have never been hooked back up if it was disconnected for one reason or the other. We shall see.
