Install center console with sub

Ok I will try not make this short. I have a 02 TJ with no center console. I found one pretty cheap and it has the sub in it. It is the whole console from dash back with sub and amp. I do not have the factory deck I installed a after market one. It has the sub out in the form of RCA jacks. The plug going to the sub has the factory plug on it. I assume which is for the amp and everything. Power and audio for sub. Has anyone done this install on there TJ. I am sure I can't be the only one to do this. Is there a wire harness kit or something like that to make everything work.

I did it and have a writeup somewhere, I just can't find it on my phone. Anyway, replace the stock sub in there if its the original one, they don't sound too good and tend to blow pretty easily. The Kicker 6.5" shallow mount subwoofer is what I run and have no complains.

You won't be able to use the stock amp unless you do a bunch of wiring. Your best option would be to get a small amp you could mount somewhere to power the subwoofer. This is what I did. Just run the power and RCA to your amp then two speaker wires from the amp to your center console.

It does have the stock sub. I was already thinking about changing it but didn't know the size. So thanks for the info.

I have a 2004 TJ and just replaced the blown out sub. Using the existing wiring I was able to cram a 10 inch Kicker sub into the factory console. I had already replaced the deck. It sounds great. Someday I'll replace everything but for now I'm happy with my Walmart $80 sub woofer.

I am going to stick with the factory set up for now if I can wore it in. If not I will probably do like the first guy said about a kicker 6.5 and a amp.

I just completed my sub replacement today. Went with the Kicker 10CVT651 and used an old Coustic Power Logic amp. Took out the factory amp to give more room in the enclosure. I'm very pleased with the results.

Just took my console out. My Jeep is a 2003 X that didn't come with a console but the guy added one. I took it out because I wanted to see what was up with the sub. Its not just a sub its got an amp in there to. The sub was in terrible shape but I am ordering a 20 dollar pyle dual voice coil sub that should fit no problem. The amp is run with speaker level inputs from the rear speakers. I will let yall know how it turns out. Its been a while since you guys started this thread so I bet you solved the problem. Here is a link:

It can be done. The factory plug has wiring for the power, ground, remote turn on and + and - for all four channels. The factory sub takes a signal from all four channels so that no matter how you adjust the fader or balance it will still get a signal. It then bridges these four channels down to two channels driven at 80 watts at 2ohms.

When I added a console to mine, I just grafted the wiring into the line level speaker wiring from the back of the radio and then hooked up the power, ground and remote. The sub controls from your radio will be useless unless you add an amp and don't use the oem amp.
