Jeep is making a chirping like noise, any input?

About a week ago I notices the noise but it wasn't too bad, but now it seems a lil louder and does it a lil longer. My first thought was the u joints since it only does it while ur driving. So I changed the all 3 in the front and 2 in the back n it still does it. From best I can tell it sounds like its coming from right under the center of the jeep. Maybe it could be the throw out bearing or possibly even something loose anyone else encountered anything like this. Thank u

I believe Im having the same issue. It comes and goes, but alot more as of the last couple weeks. I've noticed if I put my foot on the clutch pedal just a bit it gets louder. Not the belt. Sounds like it s coming from the center of the jeep around the firewall, maybe just a tad closer to the drivers side then the passenger.

Maybe the center ball joint in the front drive shaft? I had the same and changed all my u joints and it was still there. After chasing it for several days I pulled my front drive shaft off and drove around the a little... noise gone. Turned out to be the center ball joint on the DS.

Sounds like it could also be the common intake/exhaust manifold gasket leak. Sometimes it is easy as just tightening the bolts down. Search "tea kettle" on the site and you will come up with a few threads on it. Seems to get louder when you are on the gas and then lets up when you are off the gas.

I would have to agree with the centering ball on the drive shaft. The noise drove me crazy. I took apart the tcase 3 times then finally figured out it was that joint in the shaft

my rear ujoint started making that noise. It was vibrating the jeep really badly though so those are pretty noticeable. Something to check though!

If you take it to a local driveline shop they will rebuild all the joints for about 140. At least that's what I think I remember the price was when I had them do mine. Also if the shaft needs to be balanced that price can go up a lot, but that is pretty rare unless the shaft is getting beat up.

I have fairly new drive shafts. My only problem is getting the skid plate off cause the bolts just keep spinning they won't tighten or loosen, I haven't decided a way to fix it yet to be able to drop the back side of the drive shaft

I work at a dealership and today I had my driveability tech check mine out. He is pretty confident my issue is the throwout bearing. I'm at 80k on the factory clutch, so sounds like a replacement LUK unit will be in my near future..

Hey I have a similar chirping in my 2012 jeep wrangler sport. Im constantly putting my ear to different things trying to pinpoint the origin. I have had it in several times to the dealership and I keep getting the same answer "it's a jeep thing" Getting really tired of it because the sound started in January 2013 (ive had my jeep since July 2012) and continues to get louder. I have taken off the glove box and notice the sound becomes louder and more noticeable when I had it removed. Need a few suggestions if anyone has narrowed the sound to the area i am talking about behind the glove box.
