Jeep suddenly became extremely loud

4 cyl 1998 Se wrangler
I was driving earlier tonight, everything was running normally while I was idling at a stop light, but when I accelerated my jeep became super loud. I pulled over and got underneath and it sounded like it was coming from the transfer case. It is incredibly loud inside and out of the jeep, and becomes louder as I accelerate. I really have no idea where to start on this, thanks in advance guys!

Loud is a very vague description when it comes to Jeeps, "help us help you" buy more info.

Sometimes nothing can be a real cool hand.

Sounds like your muffler has a hole in it. Had to replace mine recently because of that.

Check your exhaust system once it has cooled down. If you still have the stock exhaust, its pretty common that they break between the cat and the muffler from years and years of typical movement.
