My key doesnt turn all the way. The guy at pepboys said that the switch connects to a housing unit in the ignition to help it turn all the way so i have to get a new one. What exactly is going on and how much does it cost to fix the problem?
same problem in my Camaro I had a few years ago it just gets worn out and breaks cost me 100 to get it fixed at the local ignition shop it slowly went from where I could wiggle and shake the key to where it would turn to not turning anymore
There are many obstacles that life throws at you, but you gotta make like a jeep and crawl over them and continue on.
Sounds like they are talking about the actuator pin. That connects the key cylinder to the ignition switch. It is somewhat common for the tip to break off & the key won’t turn the switch fat enough to get to the start position. The dealer won’t supply that part but you can get it from a parts store or on line. About $30-40 as I recall.
Here is a link to a photo of the broken part (they all break here).
