My 97 sahara......On my way home from work today I heard my belt squeeling a little and payed no mind to it. When I got home the car devolved a hard knocking noise and the belt is soaking wet with something. Anyone been down this road before?
Things have been braking on it every almost every week.
Check your idler pulley too, if it comes loose. It sounds JUST like a engine knock. As far as the fluid, no idea what it is until you do. Keep us updated!
My kid had the idler seize and disintegrate on a 95XJ 4.0. The engine had around 200K on it, all our miles. The belt wrapped around everything and filled every crevice under the hood. I performed roadside repairs in about an hour with a new idler, belt and coolant.
Haha that happened to me two weeks ago 150miles away. Blew a piece on my heater line after the engine over heated, about a hour outside auto zone at 930pm!
took the belt off and started the jeep no noise..... FYI the only thing I havnt replaced is the AC, power steering, or Alternator. I can only see it being one out of that list.
Indeed I did. All of them are sold except the power steering. You can pull on it and there is quite a bit of play on it. So that might be one of my problems. The other is where is leaking from. I tried tracing it but with no luck.
Ok time to wrap this post up! I replaced the pump and with little shock the bearings where shot. So replaced it with a refurbished one. Started it up, no noise! Over all spent about $180 on pump, tools, and fluids.
