Laughing monkeys

My 05 wrangler had a case of the "laughing monkeys," took it to the shop, $375 later it's fixed and all seems well, but after everything I've read about it destroying engines I am just a little paranoid and was curious if there is anything I should be watching for.

$375? Damn man you could have bought one online for $120 and installed it in 10 minutes.

Where would you recommend for buying on-line to make sure you get a good solid replacement product?

And if it is a MOPAR OPDA it is not improved and you can have the same issue in no time . Do some research before you spend . Their are 2 available that are improved , if you are lucky you have one .

Yeah I figured I was getting ripped but I needed my jeep back ASAP. So I just bit the bullet on that one.

I buy my OEM parts here Repair Parts: MoparOnlineParts.com but there's other sites out there just like it. They do charge shipping but if you buy multiple parts at a time or one expensive part you'll save a decent amount compared to the dealer. So I wouldn't buy just one $15 part from them without getting a quote from the dealer first.

Wow! Tried this site and my anti-virus program (ESET) wouldn't let me on. It says it detects a trojan virus connected to the site.

I'm a newb to jeeps but this is the first time I've heard of this issue. I have an 05 that was built 4/05, which I understand is outside of the build dates?...is this something I should be concerned about? Why doesn't Chrysler "man up" and fix this issue considering it's an engineering problem?....also the fuel filler neck issue with the 05-06s...and they wonder why they almost went bankrupt...

If anyone is concerned with their OPDA then just take it out and check it. I used my starter and bumped it untill the alignment holes in the OPDA were aligned, then put a pin in and I was able to take it out and replace it with a modded one. No codes came up and it worked great.
I wrote a review and installation of a mod kit on another jeepforum. Its called a SG kit. Check it out.
MoparOnlineParts.com: Buy Mopar Car Truck Parts | Genuine Discounted Mopar OEM Auto Parts | Mopar Accessories
This is the best place I found to get the OPDA.
This is just the stock unit and you will eventually have the same problems with it unless you mod it.
The SG kit replaces the stock top bushing with a bearing and the bottom stock bushing with an oil light one.
Good luck out there.
Cheers.

Most say the Dorman unit is the best replacement unit. At 150 bucks on amazon. The Dorman has upgraded bushings, among other improvements.

Weird...I go there all the time and never had problems or my anti-virus say anything. It's a pretty popular site actually.

This is a good reputable online site to deal with. I have purchased several item's from them at reduced pricing, verses your local Jeep Dealer.
The latest was replacement door panels.
They order from their warehouse in Michigan, the parts are then shipped to their site in New York. We the customer then have to pay the freight from their site to our home destination.
There is still a considerable savings over your local dealer plus tax.
And no I don't work for them, I live in Arizona.
