Question Lift question - Will I need a longer driveshaft or?

I couldn't seem the find the answer to my question, so I figured I'd post it on here.

I have a 00 Jeep Wrangler with a Old Man Emu 2.5" lift (coils), a 1" body lift running 35x12.50x17 Baja Claws.

I love it, but when I'm out playing, I tend to rub (sway bar, link bars, fenders, etc). I know a lift won't fix the rubbing on the link bars or sway bar, but I want a little more room for clearance. I plan on eventually running a HiLine kit, but that's down the road since its $2k. I bought some 2" coil spacers on eBay and I told my brother about it. He pointed something out, but wasn't sure 100%. Will 4.5" of suspension lift require a new driveshaft, short shaft kit or what?

I'm sure this is a newb question, but I only recently got into Jeeps. I've been into minitrucks my whole life, so I don't know alot about lifting and what not. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Any suspension lift over 3.5" will probably require an SYE(slip yoke eliminator) and CV style drive shaft.

As far as the rubbing you are experiencing, what wheels are you running? But, 35" tires are awfully tall for only 3" of lift.

As for the rubbing, do you have the right bump stops in...

Also if your going the route of small lift & big tires, why not get tube fenders instead. They are cheaper then the AEV Highline kit.

You can even build your own highline kit. I am doing that with tube fenders. Will be able to run 35" tires on 2.5 inches of lift with a long arm and go anywhere hehe. I will get pics up soon.

So far I haven't had any real problems with it other than the little bit of rubbing and the driver front tire starting to feather. I'm mainly lifting it another 2" just for the hell of it. As for tube fenders, I'm not a huge fan of them. I wouldn't mind them because I could make them myself no problems, but I really like the looks of the Highline kit. A long arm kit is on my list of things to do, but it's later on. When I do that, I'm gonna talk to the local offroad shop (Maxed Out Offroad) and order the Nth Degree long arm kit, but minus the springs.

Anyway, thanks for the help! I gotta get going (time for me to head to work). Thanx again!

i have 4.5 susp lift with stock drive shaft ,but i use a 1.5 transfer case drop kit,been running this set up over 3 years and still has original u joints on my 99 tj sportneo
