Yeah if a MOD can take out the copy and paste part of the WORLD WIDE WEB PAGE if you don't mind but if you could leave just the link to the page.I was going to add to it that this was a web page that I found while looking for a reason for my still persistent interstate overheating problem.I have been fighting this overheating issue for a while now and have replaced everything to do with the coolant system and this is the only thing I have found that describes my symptoms to a tee.I was just wanting some of your opinions on this hypothesis.I was not trying to break any copyright laws or plagiarize any one.I just want some peoples thoughts and ideas on this.

I have oftened wondered if the gasket materials leached CO past the gasket material and into the coolant. What is the porosity of the gasket sealant and gasket material compared to the CO particle size?

(looks like Tiny busted you)....

Yep and glad she did!!! I never even considered a copyright infringement for copying and pasting from a web page that can be seen from anywhere by anyone but the law is the law I know there are no miracle cures for the head gasket but I do think I will try a block sealer to see if it helps and if so then I will not worry about pulling the head just to find it it WAS fineThey also make a test to check for exhaust gasses in the coolant.The tester is $45-$65 I can get this with a 100% money back guarantee. Thanks SLF. It only takes one person to decide to make an example out of you and prosecute to really drive the copyright laws home. They might not win, but it would be a major pain in the butt.

Thanks Tiny I appreciate it!!! I will fix it one way or another.I can drive it the way it is for a while.It only over heats at 70MPH + interstate driving.Well it did once while in Harland in 4lo going up a steep trail but other than that it will be ok.It is still my Heep and will be for a long time to come.I have been wanting to pull the intake and manifold for a while now anyway because of the typical leaking exhaust manifold so I guess this is my chance. It has the updated header with the flex joints in it already on it but it leaks around a stripped head bolt which may be the point of the crack in the head and or breach in the gasket.I may just fork out for the upgraded head as well with the larger ports and supposed 3%HP gain.it is only $40 more if I in fact have to replace the head that is the one i will go with.

Just thinking out loud, did you happen to check your timing? You mention something that reminded me of a problem I had with my first car. I had a '77 Impala that would over heat when I was on the highway but not around town. I had the cooling system checked and the mechanic re-timed the engine and the problem went away.

I know the Impala and your Jeep are miles away in terms of points vs. electronic ignition, but it's just a thought.

I have not checked the timing but I would think it would run sluggish,idle to fast,continue to lope after turning off the key or be draggy at start up.How did your car act as far as having any of those symptoms????I mean I am stumped on my Jeep because it has no symptoms of a bad head/gasket either but this theory is the only thing I have found that nails the way it acts.It runs great no misfiring,no loss of power,no white smoke from the tailpipe,no water in oil,no carbon build up on plugs nothing like a normal head problem but something has to be wrong internal because every other causes have been replaced or tested.It done it a few time with the old radiator before it got hot enough to blow the top off so it has a brand new all aluminum radiator the water pump is new,new belt and hoses all new,tried 3 new t-stats,new e-fan and new aluminum spal shroud,tried the factory fan and clutch and it overheated faster with that so I tried the larger 7 blade clutch fan and same thing so as of right now the whole coolant system is new and all work the way they should be and runs very cool in town and will sit all day idling with out going over 195.So I know of nothing else it could be but the head.I will check the timing also!!!

Well, the '77 I owned had a carb. So, I'm thinking the idle was compensated for with the idle adjustment screw. I believe the timing was too far advanced. However, the engine ran fine around town but under heavy load, on the highway, or a real hot day, it would over heat. I probably did not hear the engine pinging away with all the music blasting and the glass packs in the background.

Yeah I know what ya mean.I have a timing gun and I know how to use it Anyway I will check it but I doubt it is that simple.Then again that would mean it would have had to jump time so in all reality that would not be simple but you know what I mean.I may just bite the bullet and pull the head or my hair one of the two

Jumping time would be extreme and very unlikely. You'd have all kinds of backfiring and starting issues. However, you can still be 5-10 degrees off and still run.
