Loose Rampage Top

I bought a replacement top from Rampage of my 04 TJ and after less than one year, the front half of the top is extremely loose. After exchanging emails with someone at Rampage, and sending the pictures he requested, I was ignored. I received no further replies from the company.

It's been a few more months since my last communication with them, and the top is getting worse. It bubbles up excessively while driving with the windows up, and flaps around noisily when the windows are down. Does anyone have any DIY suggestions to tighten it up? The top I have is not a frameless top.

By saying replacement top Im assuming you mean factory style and not the frameless?

Maybe show us those pics?

It's not frameless, so I guess it's more of a factory style replacement (sorry for the ignorance, but I this is my first Jeep).

I'm not sure you can tell how loose it is from these photos, but when it rains, there is an incredible amount of water pooled on top. It also leaks in the corner of the drivers side door because the top doesn't fit properly.

The old top didn't sag as much and wasn't even close to being as noisy, but I had to replace it because the windows were all scratched, and the top leaked from every corner.

You could try one bar, I preferred two because it was such a cheap fix.

you should be able to fold over a bit more fabric on the part where you screwed the top into the header bar/channel. I had to do that with mine to make it a tighter fit. It still won't be nearly as quiet as the factory top. I also put two pieces of foam(like a pool noodle) around the middle crossbar of the hardware. That made it even tighter and its much quieter now--same concept of what Raoul did above.

So, I gave up on the Rampage top and got a Bestop Supertop NX. So far, its much better. I no longer have the pooling problem when it rains and its a lot quieter when I drive. The Rampage top was pointless which is sad since it was only a year old.

Ya don't say...

I exchanged my rampage for a trektop nx after having it for 1 day. So much happier with it. My rampage leaked in 3 diffeent spots. I didn't get the "run around" as much as you with customer service but I can say I was not a satisfied customer. Oh well, live and learn.

Sell the Rampage on craigslist for a cheap price. Someone will snatch it up regardless if it sags a little. At least it will offset the new top purchase a little.
