this is going to sound mean but your 4 cyl actually had power?? LOL I have a 4 cyl and it is not powerful by any means. I have always had to downshift one and sometimes 2 gears to make it up a hill and keep speed.

So onto your question now . So it just started happening or has it been a on going problem. Has your gas mileage been affected also? When was the last time it had a tune up (miles on the jeep now?)

I have a 4cyl. either time to re-gear or drop a bigger engine in!

My 4cyl, has NEVER been able to keep speed up a hill. Even driving into a 5mph wind I can only do about 60. Winds blowing about 30mph today...my guess is I'll only be able to drive 50mph all the way home.

What size tires?
I went from 215 75 15's to 30 x9.50 and it was a huge dropoff on what performance it did have.
