Loss of Power

I have an 04 TJ. bought it stock from Carmax last year. (The TJ is a in-line 6, 2.4 liter with 65, 000 miles) It ran great until I had a 4 inch lift and 33's. Everything fine in town, but when I headed to Utah to try out the new lift, I found on the Freeway, when running about 3000 RPMs and 60-65mph I shift up to 5th and right after shifting both RPMs and MPH take a nose dive and I end up down shifting.
I understand Jeeps not built for speed and the lift has some effect on highway driving, but would like to be able to go more then 60 mph.
Is there anything I am doing wrong, or can do to increase high MPH power?

Thanks,
Coach Pete

I6 = 4.0
I4 = 2.4

Sounds like you need a re-gear

not an in-line 6 if its a 2.4 liter. You have the 4 banger. I have the same motor i run 31s and i can only max out around 70 miles an hour on flat ground on the free way. Your only option really is to re-gear the differentials which should be 4.10s if its a 4 cyl 5 spd. Your gonna wanna go straight to 4.88 for 33s and a 4 inch lift. Do not stop at 4.56 do not pass go do not collect 200$ its a pretty costly job. You will run the highway at alot higher of an rpm but itll prevent the nose dive that happens when you hit a head wind. Another option is an engine swap if you don't wanna change out the 4.10s coupled to a v8 it'd be an animal.

1st you dont know what he has, he could have either engine. 2nd if he does have a i4 and he put a v8 in it then he would have to do a drivetrain swap because the d35 wouldnt last a day behind a v8

Thanks

It is an in-line 6, manual 5 speed tran. I could have swore it was a 2.4 but cant find the paper work. I have a warrenty so no swaping engines or re-gearing just yet. (plus I had to teach summer school to afford the lift) so will just make do for now. There are enough two lane roads out of Vegas that I can avoid extanded freeway driving.

Thanks again,
Pete

inline 6 is a 4.0L. Inline 4 is a 2.4L.
