Loss of Power

I just put a limited in the rear of my jeep, now when i am in 4 low, there is noticable less power now that both of my rear tires are actually spinning. I run the 4.0, all i have done to it is a K&N air filter. Anyone know of the cheapest and best way to get some more power. Even 10 hp would help me out here. It still runs fine on the road, but i'd like to have a little more power for the mud. Any suggestions?

if you haven't regeared yet then that would definitely be the best thing to do! (although its not cheap)

$$$...I could get the gears with the install kits for 400 bucks. My buddy and I would put them in, but still, its 400 bucks. And i cant make up my mind between 4.56 and 4.10.

with 35's i would go with at least 4.56...especially if your goin bigger

You have me confused.

You are saying you have LESS power now that you have a limited slip. The ONLY difference limited slip should make is that when one tire starts slipping, the other picks up some (not all) of the load.

That should give you better, not worse, performance overall.

Are you saying that now that you have LSD, you are taking the Jeep into more challanging conditions you didn't go before (like mud) so you NOTICE less power than you would LIKE to have?

Maybe w/ LSD the engine boggs under the load of both tires working in the mud vs. having only one tire spinning helplessly?

well i guess it takes more power to get both of the tires spinning than just one...cause two weighs more than one??

Yeah, I think that is correct. It is going to take more force to turn both wheels instead of just the one. I did the same thing on my ex-4X Dakota. There was a noticeable difference in power distribution. I regretted doing it because it was more of a daily driver than anything, but I was young and I wanted a bad-a** rig. Live and learn.
