Muffler Question

My muffler seems to be absolutely full of carbon. When I tap on it it has a very "solid" sound. It also spits a bunch of black carbon out when warming up and the edges of the tailpipe are jet black. Is the muffler in need of replacement or is this normal? Also, how loud compared to stock is the 40 and 50 series Flowmaster? By the way I have about 77k miles on a 2001 4.0 with manual tranny.

Hold my beer! Buuurp!

I don't think this is normal!!! Have you replaced the PCV valve Lately?Have you done any aftermarket cold air intake mods????Do you have to add any oil in between changes???The Flowmaster 40 series is a little louder than the 50 series. The 40 is for street and strip were the 50 is a little milder for SUVs and trucks. Both are going to be more of a louder deeper tone than the stock muffler.Oh wait the Wrangler does not use a PVC I don't think/scratch that!!!

I like for it to shine even thought it is muddy most of the time!
