My Jeep was possessed this morning!!!

I got in my 1 week old (to me) 04 Rubi this morning because I wanted to drive it to work today. I turned the key and it wouldn't turn over. Interior lights came on though. Then the light went off and all the gauges started going crazy!!! Kinda spooky. I figured it had something to do with the battery. I disconnected the terminals and reconnected them, same result. Then the odometer started flashing "done." Now I'm a little freaked out.

Finally, I assumed the battery was just to low, so I pushed the Jeep out of the garage and jumped it off with my car. It started right up. The battery, as far as I can tell is likely the original. No surprise that it was finally done. So I used this as a good excuse to go buy my Optima Yellow Top on the way in to the hospital. Then I swung by the dealership for the Mopar flush mount end caps for the bumpers (pulled the milk jugs). The caps were reasonably priced but those darn push pins were $3.50 each and you need at least 8 of those suckers. Oh well, it will keep my bumpers looking a little better until my LOD's get put on.

After, all this happened I checked the forum for similar experiences by other members. Of course I found a thread that put my mind at ease, and said that all would be good once the battery was replaced. Thanks again to all the members who contribute worthwhile information to the forum.

if you keep experiencing the problem with battery, you should check your battery terminals and make sure they are clean. Like shiney clean.

I third it...I'll bet money that is what it is. You will look at them and say they are crystal clean, but brush them and the problem will go away.

Original 2004 battery ...... best to replace it for sure. I get rid of mine at 5 years usually. Are you using any battery terminal protector? An example.

As for the end caps, I used the fasteners from the jugs to hold them in place.
