My manual trans says NG on the side, is that what it are?

I hear most people mention AX15 or NV trannies and I don't see it on the list in the newb stickies. Mine is a 00 4.0 4wd, 5 spd. Do they interchange? Mine won't stay in second.

Last year for the AX15 was '99. You have a New Venture (NV) something, don't remember the #. It's a good transmission. Try changing the fluid.

Your transmission is the NV-3550, not sure why it says NG on the side. It is interchangeable with other transmissions like the older AX-15 that are bolted between a 4.0L engine and NV-231 transfer case.
