My Passenger seat lift is broken

Last week all of a sudden when I lay the seat flat to flip it up it did not automatically engage... Now I have to manually put my hand under the seat and lift the bracket to get the seat to lift.... I found this laying on the floor under it.. Can anyone tell me if it's part of the problem?
Also does anyone know if this is even fixable?/

I have this problem also. Its really hard to fix. I think you have to disassemble the entire seat, and thats is if you can find a replacement part. I just got a new seat from a junkyard. Then it broke too.
