Mystery oil leak. Help!

Long time lurker first time poster here.

I have oil dripping off of the bottom of my transmission (02 TJ). It is kind of all over the place and I can't tell where it's coming from. I have had trouble with the oil pressure sender for a while but have put off replacing it because it didn't seem to be affecting anything else. Is it normal for the pressure sender to leak? It does seem to be the farthest thing back that would allow the oil to drip over to the transmission. I will try to get pics up today.

I don't think it is very common for it to leak but it can and the reason the oil is dripping so far back is mostly because while your driving the oil is splashed all over your under carriage when it leaks out so it makes it tough to figure out where it is coming from

Thanks for the reply. I am not very mechanically inclined but I'm learning (just performed my first brake job on the wife's minivan and did my first oil change on the jeep, God bless YouTube and the forum). What is the best way to clean all the oil off so I can better spot the leak? Is it safe to just hose everything with carb cleaner and go after it with paper towels? Or would a pressure washer work better? Been driving TJs since 99 and I'm tired of paying mechanics for stuff I could probably do myself.

Carb cleaner is too expensive, and dries too fast. Fill a spray bottle with diesel and spray it down (when the engine is cold, and in your neighbors driveway).

Get a couple of cans of gunk heavy duty gel, go to a self serve car wash. Let the jeep cool for several minutes, pull into one of the bays spray the engine down with the gunk let it set for several minutes. Then use the high pressure sprayer to wash it off. If not clean spray more gunk and wash again.

Just about any garage/shop can add UV dye to the engine oil. You come back in a couple days and they hit it with a black light and it will be clear as can be where the oil is originating.

Ok, so I used the dye and didn't get a very reliable result. I did track the fluid up around the head gasket and it appears to be going from there to the gap between the transmission and the oil pan. The problem is, I didn't detect any of the dye around there with the uv light. I also noticed that my auto transmission fluid is about he same color as fairly dirty oil. I'm gonna try the dye in that this evening but is there a place up around the head gasket where the transmission fluid runs to be leaking?

Meant power steering fluid. Not transmission. No luck there anyway. Will try trans fluid next tho. It does drip off the bottom of the transmission even after just idling and revving without driving around so I know it's not getting sloshed back there.
