Wish I could help you. Have never heard a 4 banger with any kind of exhaust mods. Just put a flodaddy header and cat back cherry bomb on my 99 tj. But
It has the six in it.

A cheap way to go is weld in a $30 Thrush Welded muffler. Or many will spend the extra money on Banks Monster. Both sound good on a 2.5L and 4.0L...but will never sound like a true V8.

Thank you for the advice. I'm just worried about it sounding like a Honda

My exhaust guy welded a generic Magnaflow in my 00 TJ with 4.0, it sounds real nice, its not loud just deeper and throatier. Sounds like a small v8.
