need help with 4x4 low

i have a 2004 jeep wrangler and it will not go in 4x4 low.i took the rod off and pushed it in gear. then i put the rod back and it was 1/2 inch short. can someone please help me with this prob.

You need to move the adjustment screw thing to the max or end of the rod, then try to put it in gear with it locked down.. If that does not work then perhaps other issues. Does the jeep have a body lift? Is the linkage attached at the bracket mounted to the body just under the drivers area, looks sort of like an H.

No body lift just a suspension lift if tried to move the rod to the end and it still don't go in 4x4 low but I can take the rod out and put it in low bye hand???

Novak cable shifter. Problem solved.

I am def on board with Novak after doing this. Jeep should do this as a retro fit for the crap some engineer Rube Goldberg designed as stock on my 05 LJ and TJ's. Simple install and adjustment, works great.

X2. Buy a novak cable shifter and ditch the stock linkage.
