Need help with FUSE? 30 AMP.

Tonight my headlights stop working! I went to turn the lights on and everything works except the headlights. S i checked the fuse box in the engine carp. I found a 30 amp type of fuse blown. Is this a fuse? Or is it called somthing else? Can this be purchased at a local auto store, or do i have to go to a dealer? One more question- what would cause this to go? Thanks Dave.

Dave,

That's a IOD fuse.
It stands for: Ignition Off Draw.
Why it's called that, and what it actually does, I really don't know.
I think it's a Chrysler thing.
I would imagine that you could pick one up at an Autozone or Checker though.

Thanks! IOD probably means you can turn on the power without using the ignition on. I know i can turn my headlights on just by pulling out the switch. I don't need to turn the ignition to the on position. Thanks again, now i won't look like a jerk when i ask for this part/fuse.

I managed a NAPA store for a while...You can get those at NAPA. Just take the old one with you when you go to get it.

Must have been a bad Jeep day in Palm Beach County. My battery died and I got stranded at my daughter's school until I could get a new one put in.
