Need HELP with head unit!

Ok I have a Alpine CDM-7834 head unit.
I can't see what is on the background of the face... (screen) but the buttons all around it are lit up. The screen is NOT. It is always black.

Any suggestions on what to do? I already took alcohol and cotton swap and rubbed the inputs of unit and still nothing..
Long ago I turned the Jeep on and it lit up green (the rest of it is too) and once I turned it off and then on again, it was black... Help please.

Thanks
Mike

This happened to me a while back, it's a loose wire. I don't remember which one but just check all the wires and it should come back. Did you use a wiring harness?

you didn't install it? If you bought the jeep with it and it's been like that the screen may be dead then. It's easy to get back there. Pop out the defrost vent and there will be 2 screws holding in the center dash bezel, take out the screws and easily pry off the center piece. That will expose the cd player. All you have to do then is unscrew the cd player and pull it out to expose all the wiring. check to make sure the harnesses are tight and i'm not recommending this cause I don't want you to shock yourself but what I would do is pull it out and hold it, turn the key towards you so the player comes on and not the engine and jiggle the harness and wires and see if the face turns on, if not it may be burned out.

you won't get shocked but I don't want to be responsible for telling you to jiggle live wires good luck, let me know how it goes.
